Chapter 291 – Thanks for Being Alright

From Endeavor’s perspective:

Touya as a hero

Touya wasn’t Enji’s desired child – to possess both ice and fire quirk. Yet, the kid had more potential and power than his dad. That was why Endeavor decided to raise his firstborn as a hero even tho he could suffer from overheating just like him. Surprisingly, Enji wasn’t a maniac at this time and seemed to really love his kid and they used to get on well.

Touya admired his dad and enjoyed training with him. Training for Touya was like getting closer to his idol at the time.

The only wrong thinking about his child was that he left all his ambitions and expectations to Touya as the boy could reach heights (e.g. All Might) which his father himself had never been able to.

Touya’s hair color change

When it comes to looks, Touya was a copy of Endeavor – crimson hair and turquoise eyes. However, after his quirk appeared and he started training, he got a stripe of grey hair. This even surprised Endeavor who asked his son if he had noticed and whether he put some dye. Touya didn’t seem really bothered and accepted the fact as if he had been becoming a grandpa. He also said he would never dye his hair (it is ironic as he will do it in the future).

What might have been the reasons behind Touya’s hair turning white?

Reason 1. Stress makes hair lose its pigmentation. This may have been a proof that Touya’s body couldn’t bear the power of his powerful quirk.

Reason 2. Rei’s gene started occurring – stripes of his body were extrasensitive towards the heat from blue flamed which are way hotter than normal ones.

Touya got his first burnt

While Endeavor was teaching Touya a move of his, he got burnt. It is normal for a fire quirk, but maybe these burnts became more frequent and deeper as well as it had been taking them longer and longer to recover.

Enji still wanted a child with a mixture of 2 quirks

Rei didn’t have anything against Enji’s ambitions. She even encouraged him by saying if they had more children, they would support each other. Fuyumi was born. This makes her 4 years younger than Touya.

Her quirk

Fuyumi has white hair with crimson stripes and grey eyes (in the anime / turquiose in the manga). As Shouto was the only Todoroki child who inherited both quirks, Fuyumi was supposed to have an ice quirk or a weaker fire one. Natsuo joked his sister in season 4 that she can die in hot weather which meant she was too sensitive towards it. Her quirk is finally confirmed in chapter 291 – she has an ice quirk. Even though Fuyumi didn’t inherit both quirks, Enji was fine with it at those times.

It is a mystery why it never came to Endeavor’s mind that a child with a fire quirk and one with an ice quirk could make a great tandem.

Touya is dead

Touya perished in a fire in a cold, windy and dry day. The only thing left from him was a  piece of his lower jaw bone and not a corpse. This made Enji not believe that Touya was dead or he didn’t want to believe his child passed.

When he understood Touya was alive, he thought it was unbelievable. He was too shocked and was having flashbacks of little Touya. When Touya’s incident happened, Enji believed his son had to be alive. Now he is found. While this was crossing  Endeavor’s mind, he got paralyzed.

Natsuo

He was seen to be using his mobile after classes at university and watching the video with, of course, a shocked expression on his face.

Natsuo understood his brother is alive and one of the most hardened villians. Natsuo won’t approve of his brother being a villain and not contacting him within all these years. Natsuo will blame not only his father for what has happened to Touya but also his brother as he has chosen the path of villainy. He won’t forgive both.

Fuyumi

She seemed to be the last one who understands about Touya. Fuyumi was shown teaching her class. A colleague of hers came at the door probably to call her to see something she must be interested in.

Fuyumi’s dream for a family will be ruined after this and she will be wondering why her brother became a villain. 

Hawks

As he was heroes’ spy among the villains, he had a task from the them – to kill a hero – Best Jeanist. In the news Best Jeanist had been announced as missing and in Dabi’s video Dabi said the hero was eliminated by another hero – the Number 2 hero Hawks. (Hawks, actually, didn’t kill him, but made him stay at home in order to keep his undercover among the villains.)

However, Hawks did kill Twice for the same reason when villains were about to start the war. Dabi left Hawks to kill Twice for his conspirating video about hero society. Touya also knew why Hawks’ real name was kept in a secret – as Hawks’ father was a serial murderer.

Touya and Hawks used to be friends while training for heroes. However, Touya doesn’t care if his previous friend will live or not as he was about to kill him. What prevented him from doing so, was Tokoyami who rescued his master. Hawks is all in bandages due to serious burnts and injuries caused by Touya and the secret about Hawks’ dad is revealed. So, Touya used his previous friendship as a source of information and probably by the injuries which he caused Hawks, Hawks may not be able to work as a hero any more.

Shouto

He is definitely shocked, too, but seems the least shocked of all. Shouto was ready to fight his brother together with Nejire-senpai. He was ready to deal with this and keep his dad aside from it. Shouto came with a plan to neutralize his brother and his dad to protect Bakugo and Midoriya. Shouto even shouted to Endeavor to come back to earth, but he was paralyzed from the shock.

Best Jeanist

Back from the other world, Best Jeanist was stylishly late but on time to stop Dabi and his fight with Endeavor and Shouto. With Best Jeanist’s appearance, society may not believe in Touya’s video and consider it villains’ propaganda.

What is still unknown?

Why did Endeavor become a maniac?

Endeavor’s first child was appropriate for a hero even though he only posssessed a fire quirk. However, he still wanted a kid with both quirks. That’s why when Touya’s quirk appeared at the age of 4, Enji wanted a second child. Fuyumi had only an ice quirk which also occurred when she was 4 years old. This led to having a third child. Meanwhile, Touya was becoming incompatible with his quirk. Natsuo probably had an ice quirk, too. Enji’s dream to have and train a child to surpass him and All Might had been failing. Endeavor became maniacal to fulfil his dream and when Shouto was born, he was the only centre of his attention and ambitions.

What was the exact Touya’s incident?

Touya was believed to have perished in a fire, but what caused the fire? He may have passed his limit to make an ultimate move in order to prove himself as a hero to his dad. This might have caused  Touya’s deep burnts.

Who took care of Touya?

Why woud Touya all of a sudden want to prove himself to Endeavor? What had he been doing after the incident? It isn’t excluded that Touya could have been manipulated by a villain like Shigaraki by All for One.

It hasn’t been revealed yet so that the assumptions from the previous article still remain.

Chapter 292 - A Ray of Hope

It was supposed to come out on 20th November. However, at this time it is Horikoshi’s birthday! Let this great mind have a break now and live many more years to entertain us and himself!
